  • A view of Mt. Edgecumbe from the top of Harbor Mountain (what a hike!). See the snow melt a month later? The road going up to Harbor Mountain had just been opened as the snow had finally melted enough to open the third and last gate to the hiking trail. The stairs up to this point are not for the faint of heart but feel free to step off the path to catch your breath at any time (I did several times) since the whole scene once you reach this point will ultimately leave you breathless!

  • The view from Harbor Mountain. The snow didn't melt enough until the end of June to get up to the top. And I went the first day it was open; my last day in Sitka in 2007. We were blessed with beautiful weather. From what I've read, there were gun placements up here during World War II (2007).
