Historic Weekend
Historic Weekend is an annual event at Perry's Monument after Labor Day weekend. This year, it was September 6 and 7, 2008. It's a really busy, crazy time for the staff but we also have a lot of fun. The Boy Scouts also hold a Camp-O-Ree. There were around 1200 McGyvers-in-training camped out on the east side of the monument. The only good way to get a handle on the sheer numbers of Scouts was from the monument deck. The weather was beautiful on Saturday. Sunday morning, we woke up to rain and the Scouts bugged out early. Eventually, the clouds cleared and the sun came out later in the day.
