British Columbia

Many of places in British Columbia are in the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die". Vancouver should not be your stayover on the way to or from a cruise ships. You need to stay and explore a culturally diverse region with incredible food, gorgeous scenery and wonderful neighborhoods. Small coffee shops, four-star restaurants, greasy spoons and funky eateries are part of the experience. Just go and take a slow walk around the Stanley Park seawall, breathe deep of the salt air and contemplate life in one of the many gardens.

Another view of the marina next to Bridges Restaurant - this wooden ship has been docked every time I've visited. The Granville Street Bridge is in the background along with the skyline view of Vancouver, looking toward the West End (2006).
Across False Creek from Granville Island - glass crayons and ziggurats looms upward. The skyline looks similar to Hong Kong. The proximity to Asia and the influx of Hong Kong residents prior to the return of the province to China influenced construction in the region (2005).
A small marina across Granville Island - sailboats are very popular (2006).
