British Columbia

Many of places in British Columbia are in the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die". Vancouver should not be your stayover on the way to or from a cruise ships. Just go and take a slow walk around the Stanley Park seawall, breathe deep of the salt air and contemplate life in one of the many gardens.

This is Tony Charlie, a member of the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Nation in British Columbia. He has done silverwork and took up carving on and off for the past 20 years; mostly off, according to Tony. He is attending Emily Carr University full-time and completing a 10-foot totem for a 6-hour directed study course for summer. He is of the Moon People. The moon on top is guiding the black bear. He is a journeyman carver, apprenticing with George Hunt, Jr.
